Please pray... (29/05/06)
…for the proposed summit between Russia and the EU to discuss a long-term partnership based on Russia’s vast energy resources. Recent talks have been marked by suspicion and claims of a drift back towards the atmosphere of the Cold War.
…for talks on a package of incentives for Iran to abandon its nuclear programme. Talks in London are reported to have made ‘good progress’.
…for Nouri Maliki, prime minister of Iraq. Mr Maliki hopes to take over all security responsibilities from the US-led coalition within 18 months. To do so, however, his forces will need more training, equipment and manpower.
…for our Mission Partners: Charles and Lynn-Barr Johnston in Northern Argentina; Dan Browne in Afghanistan; Philbert Khalisa in Rwanda; Adrian and Jane Shutt in Uganda.
…for the week of Prayer Visiting, beginning on Monday 4th June. Pray especially for the residents of Lansdown Terrace Lane, Overton Park Road, Overton Road and Parabola Road.
…for our celebration of Pentecost next weekend: for Saturday morning’s Prayer Event, and for our Pentecost worship next Sunday. Pray for God’s Holy Spirit to be powerfully at work, energising us to be the church.
…for Paul Minchin and Louise Jarvis as they are married at Christ Church next Saturday. Pray for their guests, and for Linda as she leads.
…for the family and friends of David Bennett as they gather at Christ Church for David’s funeral at 2.00pm on Thursday.
… for the sick: Sue Potter, Trish Browning, Pat Lawrence, Susan Swindlehurst, Vicki Chapman, Jenny Worton-Griffiths, Doris Gardner, Nicola Draper, Peter Chicken, Peter Linwood, Grace Williams and Cara Cahill.
