Please pray... (23/04/06)

Living Lord Jesus, we praise you for your victory over death. We celebrate the truth of Easter. Please strengthen our faith in your risen life.

In the garden on the first Easter Sunday, Mary turned from the tomb to meet the risen Christ. She turned from death to life, from despair to hope. We pray for those in despair, that you would inspire them with Easter hope.

Those on the road to Emmaus did not recognise Jesus journeying with them. We pray for all who are searching for faith, that they might discover the Jesus who walks alongside them.

In the inn at Emmaus, Jesus was recognised when he broke the bread. We pray the power of Jesus' risen life as we break bread today.

The risen Jesus greeted his disciples with peace. We pray for the peace of the world, especially for Iraq and Israel/Palestine. We pray that Easter hope would energise everyone working for a better world.

At the lakeside, Jesus gave Peter a new beginning. We pray for all who are burdened by regret, that they would know the new start that Jesus longs to give them.

Healing Lord, we thank you for the promise of your Holy Spirit. Into the Spirit's compassion we hold Sue Potter, Joyce & Roy Woodward, Trish Browning, James Chacko, Freda Stroud, Grace Williams, Lalli Widelski, Lorna, Benjamin & Susan Byun, Gwen & Trevor Holmes, Pat Lawrence, Susan Swindlehurst, Vicki Chapman, Jean Dalby, Jenny Worton-Griffiths, Doris Gardner, Anne Bird, Christine Lewis, Mercy Doh, Michael Taylor, Jack Coke-Wallis, Aaron Roberts, Dorothy Knight, Nicola Draper, John Bond and all who suffer in body, mind or spirit.

Risen Lord, you conquered death. We remember those who have died in the Easter faith of Christ; for the bereaved and for those who watch with the dying.

Please pray... (09/04/06)

This Week we stand with Christ in his suffering and pray:

Journeying Lord, on Palm Sunday you rode in triumph into Jerusalem. We welcome you into our lives afresh today .

Cleansing Lord, on Palm Sunday you purified the temple. Please purify the worship of our lips and of our lives.

Broken Lord, at the Last Supper you broke bread and poured out wine. We pray for all who feel broken today.

Praying Lord, in the garden you aligned yourself with your Father’s will. Please keep us strong against temptation.

Judging Lord, your trial was a mockery. We pray for the justice system the world over, and especially in our nation.

Suffering Lord, soldiers beat you and spat upon you. We cry to you for victims of oppression and conflict in all nations, praying for peace and justice.

Dying Lord, we pray for the bereaved, and for those who watch with the dying.

Healing Lord, we hold before you those whom we know and love who need a special sense of your presence today.
